Mercedes-AMG recently released the initial official teasers of its new and upcoming high-performance CLE-based coupe model. These latest shots hint that a V8 powered flagship offering is set to return. The model can be seen draped in a heavy camouflage with extreme aero elements and also track-focused proportions. It seems like this Mercedes model will be positioned above the standard CLE lineup. Moreover, the teaser visuals so far suggest that it could be a successor to AMG's Black Series-style cars that is built with a sharper focus on aspects like performance and circuit capability. There will be wider tracks, aggressive bodywork as well as race-inspired design cues to separate the new model from regular AMG coupes. Read on to learn more.

What Makes This CLE Different From The Standard Model
The test car shown in official images and spy shots looks far removed from a regular CLE coupe. It features a massive fixed rear wing, an extended front splitter, a widebody stance as well as deep side skirts. The wheel arches appear significantly flared and indicate a wider track for improved stability and cornering grip.
Large alloy wheels wrapped in low-profile performance tyres and a lowered ride height point toward a chassis for track use. Furthermore, the aggressive aero package suggests Mercedes-AMG is focusing on downforce rather than subtle styling changes.
Strong Signs Of A V8 Powertrain
Multiple reports indicate that this mysterious CLE will be powered by a V8 engine. This is notable because recent AMG models have increasingly shifted toward four-cylinder hybrid setups. A V8 would signal a deliberate move to create a limited-production and enthusiast-focused performance car.
While exact outputs are unknown, the engine is expected to be a development of AMG’s existing twin-turbo V8, which is tuned for higher performance. Whether electrification will play a role remains unclear but early indications point toward a primarily combustion-based setup to preserve weight balance and track performance.
A Black Series Or Mythos-Level Model
The design language closely resembles previous AMG Black Series cars such as the GT Black Series and C63 Black Series. Some reports also suggest it could be part of AMG’s 'Mythos' programme that is reserved for limited and highly exclusive vehicles.
If that proves true, production numbers would be restricted, and the CLE V8 would sit at the very top of the CLE range as a halo product rather than a mass-market performance coupe.

Expected Positioning And Launch Timeline
Mercedes-AMG has not confirmed a launch date but the advanced stage of testing suggests an unveiling within the next year. The model is expected to be positioned as a track-capable and road-legal coupe for collectors and driving enthusiasts. Final specifications, power figures as well as production plans will become clear closer to its official debut.
