The 2025 Hyundai Tucson has achieved a full five-star safety rating in the latest round of Latin NCAP crash tests. The facelifted model, produced in Korea and the Czech Republic, marks a major improvement
over earlier versions, thanks to the inclusion of better safety technologies and wider availability of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Hyundai Tucson Latin NCAP Rating Decoded
In the Latin NCAP tests, the Tucson recorded 83.98% in Adult Occupant Protection, 91.62% in Child Occupant Protection, 75.08% in Pedestrian Protection and Vulnerable Road Users, and 96.28% in Safety Assist.
When first tested in 2022, the Tucson offered only two front airbags as standard and received a zero-star rating. Later that year, Hyundai standardised six airbags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC), improving the rating to three stars. However, the ADAS technologies were available only in limited numbers, preventing the model from gaining full points.

For 2025, Hyundai expanded ADAS availability across a larger share of production models, meeting Latin NCAP’s volume requirements. Following Hyundai’s request, Latin NCAP reassessed the updated Tucson under its latest protocols. The testing included evaluations for frontal impact, side impact, side pole impact, whiplash protection, and pedestrian safety.
The frontal crash test conducted on the hybrid variant revealed an unstable structure due to the added weight of components such as the electric motor and battery. Despite this, the SUV delivered strong results across other parameters, enabling it to achieve the five-star rating.
Tucson’s active safety performance was a key factor in securing this result. Its Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) systems, covering city, interurban, and vulnerable road user scenarios, performed brilliantly. Lane Support Systems (LSS) and Blind Spot Detection (BSD) both achieved full scores.

The SUV scored 30.84 out of 32 points for adult occupant protection and 41 out of 49 for child occupant protection. Tested for front offset deformable barrier, side impact, and side pole scenarios, the Tucson became the first Hyundai model to be evaluated by the newly established Bharat NCAP.
