This isn’t the first time we’ve heard about the Xpulse 421. Hero first teased the model at last year’s EICMA 2024 show in Italy, giving a glimpse of its design direction. Since then, the bike has been undergoing final-stage testing at Hero’s Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) near Jaipur and across northern India.

As the name suggests, the Xpulse 421 will be powered by an all-new 421cc single-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. While the exact numbers are still under wraps, expect output in the range of 35 to 40 bhp. Hero is reportedly tuning this engine to deliver strong low and mid-range torque.
The motorcycle is built on a brand-new platform with a trellis frame at its core. Suspension duties are expected to be handled by upside-down forks up front and a rear monoshock with preload adjustability. A 21-inch front wheel confirms its off-road intentions, though the setup will likely feature tube-type tyres for durability. Design-wise, expect the Xpulse 421 to follow the rugged and purposeful stance of its smaller sibling, the Xpulse 210, but with a more muscular body and larger proportions.

Once launched, the Xpulse 421 will go up against some serious competition, including the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450, KTM 390 Adventure, and the upcoming TVS Apache RTX 450. Pricing will play a key role, and knowing Hero, we can expect it to be aggressive.
