Harley-Davidson Super Glide 2026 — Iconic 1,923cc Retro Cruiser Unveiled

Harley-Davidson has brought back the Super Glide for 2026, exactly 55 years after the original FX Super Glide first appeared in 1971. It's a limited run — 2,500 serialised units, sold only in the US and Canada. No India launch is confirmed. The bike sits on the modern Softail platform and runs the Milwaukee-Eight 117 V-twin at 1,923cc. For Indian buyers, this one exists mostly as a grey import prospect for now, but the specs and context are worth understanding before one shows up at a dealership with a steep import premium attached.

What Harley Has Actually Built Here

The 1971 original was Willie G. Davidson's work — he took the Big Twin FL chassis, fitted the narrower Sportster front fork and created something Harley-Davidson called a factory custom. It became a template for the brand's

identity over the following decades. The 2026 version doesn't try to recreate that bike exactly but it references it clearly: White Onyx Pearl paint, red and blue striping, a teardrop fuel tank, laced spoke wheels, chrome mini ape handlebars, round air cleaner and a Bar and Shield tank graphic. The serialised number sits on the fuel tank console. The iconic boat-tail rear from the 1971 model hasn't come back but the rounded rear fender keeps enough of that visual language intact.

Underneath, it's the current Softail chassis — lighter than older Harley-Davidson frames while staying stiff with a hidden rear monoshock that keeps the hardtail look without the hardtail ride. Front suspension is a 49mm dual-bending valve fork. The Milwaukee-Eight 117 makes 97bhp and 163Nm, tuned for a flat torque curve instead of a peaky power delivery. That suits the kind of riding this bike is designed for — long stretches of open road, not canyon carving.

Tank, Electronics, and the India Reality

The fuel tank is 18.9 litres — noticeably bigger than the Street Bob's 13.2-litre unit, which shares this platform. On a heavy cruiser built for distance, that difference shows up in how often you're stopping to fill up.

Electronics are more complete than the retro styling might suggest: cornering ABS, cornering traction control, drag torque slip control and three ride modes — Road, Sport and Rain. Lighting is all-LED, the headlamp is a 5.75-inch unit with a signature ring and the instrument cluster is a five-inch console-mounted setup combining an analogue speedometer with a multifunction LCD.

For Indian buyers, the honest position is this: 2,500 units, US and Canada only, no official India pricing, no India timeline. Grey imports are possible, but factor in shipping, customs duty and the markup a parallel importer will add on top of whatever the US price ends up being. Harley-Davidson hasn't published pricing yet. Until they do — and until there's any indication of an India allocation — this sits firmly in the watch-and-wait category.
