Porsche India is back in the spotlight again and it is not for a new launch or a performance upgrade, but for a safety recall, as the luxury carmaker has announced a voluntary recall of 158 units of the Porsche Panamera
in India due to a wiring problem that could affect the proper working of side airbags. A recall is actually a responsible step taken by manufacturers to fix safety issues before they cause real harm.

This recall is for the Panamera models manufactured between July 19, 2023 and September 2, 2025, specifically those coded under variants YAA and YAB. Porsche discovered that the wires connected to the side-airbag crash sensors inside the door panel were not assigned appropriately during production, which means the sensor may not send the correct signal at the right time during a crash.
This recall matters because even a slight delay in airbag deployment can increase the chances of injury, especially in a fast side impact, as airbags are designed to respond in milliseconds, so proper wiring is extremely important.

Porsche will soon begin reaching out directly to all affected customers and the company will arrange free inspection and repair of the wiring at authorised service centres. Owners will not have to pay anything for this fix, as safety recalls are always handled by the manufacturer.
This latest recall marks Porsche’s second major recall in India in 2025. Earlier in March, the company recalled the Porsche 991 series because the rear seat-belt buckle screws were not properly secured and that issue involved an aluminium mat that was incorrectly installed during assembly. With this latest recall, Porsche aims to ensure that customers continue to enjoy the brand's performance and luxury without any safety concerns.
