Yamaha Aerox 155 sits in a very unusual space in India right now. It’s technically a scooter, but most people considering one are usually comparing it with motorcycles too. That’s because the Aerox uses the same 155cc liquid-cooled engine platform seen on the Yamaha R15 and MT-15, giving it noticeably stronger performance than regular family scooters. But once prices cross Rs 1.43 lakh (ex-showroom) and go close to Rs 1.46 lakh (ex-showroom) for higher variant, buyers naturally start asking tougher questions around mileage, practicality and everyday usability. So before buying one, here’s what matters beyond the sporty styling.
Before moving on to other details, here is the variant-wise ex-showroom price list for the scooter.
| Aerox 155 Variant | Ex-Showroom Price |
| Aerox 155 Standard | Rs 1.43 lakh |
| Aerox 155 Version S | Rs 1.46 lakh |
The Aerox 155 uses
a 155cc liquid-cooled engine producing around 14.79 hp and 13.9 Nm. The difference becomes obvious the moment you ride it. Compared to regular 125cc scooters, the Aerox feels much quicker during overtakes and highway riding. Yamaha also gives it Variable Valve Actuation (VVA), which helps maintain stronger performance across different speeds. Top speed figures are usually around 111-115 kmph depending on riding conditions.
Mileage Depends Entirely On How You Ride It
Yamaha claims mileage figures around 40 kmpl. However, riding style changes everything on this scooter. People riding aggressively inside city traffic usually see lower numbers, especially because the engine encourages faster riding more than normal commuter scooters do. The fuel tank capacity stands at 5.5 litres.
The Riding Position Feels Different From Normal Scooters
This is something many buyers notice immediately during test rides. The Aerox 155 follows a maxi-scooter design, so the riding posture feels longer and slightly stretched out compared to scooters like the Activa or Jupiter. Taller riders usually like this setup more, especially on highways. But, buyers shifting from conventional scooters may need some adjustment time initially because the floorboard layout feels different. Seat height stands at 790 mm.
It Gets Features Usually Seen On Premium Bikes
The Aerox 155 includes traction control, single-channel ABS, LED lighting and Bluetooth connectivity through Yamaha’s Y-Connect app. The scooter also gets a digital instrument cluster with call and message alerts. Compared to normal commuter scooters, the Aerox 155 clearly focuses more on sporty technology-oriented buyers.

It Is Not Really A Family Scooter
This is probably the most important thing buyers should understand before purchasing one. The Yamaha Aerox 155 prioritises performance and sporty riding feel much more than everyday family practicality. Under-seat storage is decent at 24.5 litres, but the scooter overall feels designed more for solo riders and enthusiasts than calm family commuting.
