What Does Strong Hybrid And Self-Charging Stand For?
⦁ The Strong Hybrid technology in the Maruti Suzuki Victoris signifies that the Victoris is powered by a petrol engine that works together with an electric motor and battery pack to offer exceptional fuel efficiency. The systems can also work independently in different scenarios, such as low-speed city driving can be done with electric-only power and quick highway overtakes can be made with power from the ICE engine.
⦁ The self-charging bit is where the Victoris strong hybrid also keeps it convenient while being eco-friendly. As the electric system is powered via a battery pack, some other formats like the plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) car, require the drivers to charge the battery pack via a wall outlet. However, in the self-charging format that comes with the Victoris, one does not need to charge the battery manually as the vehicle recuperates charge from the engine and regenerative braking energy. This makes maintaining a self-charging, strong hybrid car hassle-free.
How Does It Work?
⦁ The Strong Hybrid drivetrain in the Victoris is powered by a 1.5-litre, 3-cylinder, petrol engine paired to an electric motor that gives it a combined output of 114 hp and 141 Nm of torque.
⦁ The Victoris strong hybrid also features the eCVT transmission to further optimise fuel consumption figures and increase the SUV's dependability.
⦁ The 1.5-litre petrol engine is also designed to run on the Atkinson Cycle. The combustion cycle of such an engine allows for improved fuel efficiency, lower emissions but with a slight compromise in performance at low speeds, where the electric motor adds support to the vehicle.
These key factors work together in cars to offer a high fuel efficient alternative in comparison to traditional ICE cars. The newly launched Maruti Suzuki Victoris Strong Hybrid offers the same convenience to Arena customers now. While prices for the entry-level Victoris start from Rs lakh ex-showroom, the strong hybrid variants are priced between Rs 16.38 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom.
