Hyundai has joined the list of automakers that have recently announced their sales figures for May. The carmaker sold 47,837 cars and SUVs last month, exhibiting an increase of 9% over the previous year's 43,861 units. The Creta, Exter, Venue, Verna, and Aura are some of the popular Hyundai cars in India that contributed to this figure. As for the international shipments, 13,300 models were exported last month. This took cumulative sales to 61,137 units. Here's a closer view of the performance of Hyundai in May 2026 sales.
Hyundai May Sales 2026: Domestic, Export Performance Explained
As mentioned, Hyundai recorded positive performance last month by selling over 47,000 cars. For reference, its sales reached 43,000 plus in May 2025. That said, the sales declined in terms of exports. Hyundai shipped 13,300
units in May 2026, compared to 14,840 units in May of last year. This translated to a decline of 10.38%. Overall, the company sold 61,137 units, a rise of 4.15% year-on-year.
The carmaker registered deliveries of 99,739 units in the domestic market during the first two months of the financial year (April–May 2026). This led to a rise of 13% over the 88,235 units sold during the corresponding period of FY26.

Here's What These Sales Numbers Mean For Hyundai
The most recent sales performance of the South Korean carmaker in India shows that it has firmly positioned itself among the country's leading PV (passenger vehicle) manufacturers. With domestic sales growing at over 9%, the company has outperformed the broader market's growth rate in several segments. In the near future, the carmaker is expected to focus on strengthening its SUV portfolio while expanding its electric vehicle segment. The manufacturer has planned a product roadmap comprising 26 new models by 2030. Although it is not confirmed, Hyundai could launch its global crossover, the Bayon, in India by the end of the year.
