Mercedes-Benz Adds Fourth Variant To CLA Electric Lineup - Which One Will Come To India?

If you are a fan of luxury electric cars and have been waiting for Mercedes-Benz to bring the new CLA Electric coupe into India, then the new variant that has been announced in Germany may interest you. Up till now, Mercedes-Benz has been offering the new CLA EV in three different variants that include the CLA 200, CLA 250+ and the CLA 350 4MATIC with all-wheel drive. However, the automaker seems to have identified a market gap in the CLA lineup and has now introduced the new CLA 250, which sits between the CLA 200 and 250+ variants. Here's what we know so far.

Positioned between the CLA 200 and the CLA 250+, the new CLA 250 variant combines a larger battery pack of 71 kWh with the economic package of the CLA 200 at a slight price markup of approximately

EU 3,500. For that amount, customers get a bigger battery and an extended range of up to 674 km, when compared to the CLA 200's 542 km. Power output is also increased from 220 hp to 268 hp in the CLA 250, which is identical to the 250+. The torque figure of 335 Nm remains identical across all variants of the CLA Electric and apart from the 4MATIC, all other variants are rear-wheel drive (RWD).

The new variant also adds faster charging capacity of up to 250 kW, instead of the CLA 200's 200 kW, which adds to the new variant's appeal. DC fast charging time of 20 minutes from 10 percent to 80 percent; however remains the same.

For prospective buyers in India, this matters because we have an indicative launch timeline of April 2026 for the new CLA EV. It is still unclear which variants of the CLA Electric will make its way onto Indian shores. Based on historical data, it could have been assumed that the base CLA 200 variant would have been introduced in India first. However, with the new CLA 250 variant, we can now keep our hopes up for the electric coupe to arrive with a slightly larger battery pack and better range, considering India is a much more range-sensitive market than Germany.
