With the emergence of new electric vehicle models across segments, first-time EV buyers are bound to face a dilemma when shortlisting the ones that fulfill their requirements the most. From compact to the full-sized category, there are new EV models that have recently launched and more that are incoming. 1. Tata Punch EV Facelift:
After the recent facelift of the Punch, Tata Motors has now announced the facelift of the Punch EV. The new Punch EV is scheduled to launch on February 20 and will introduce a design refresh and several updates to keep the lineup up to date. Even in its existing
avatar, the Punch EV boasts of features and specifications that are segment-leading and also compete against a segment above. This one is definitely worth waiting for, in case you are looking to buy your first EV on a pocket-friendly budget.
2. Maruti Suzuki eVitara:
After much anticipation, the country's biggest carmaker is expected to finally enter the electric vehicle segment with the new eVitara. Key details such as an ARAI-certified range of 543 km, a 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP and an extensive features list have already been confirmed about the electric SUV. It will compete in the highly-competitive mid-sized electric SUV segment, giving buyers the option of going in for a Maruti Suzuki Nexa EV. Prices and variant details of the new eVitara are expected to be announced by late February 2026.
3. Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella:
The third major EV launch that new buyers should wait for is the Urban Cruiser Ebella. The Ebella will be Toyota's first all-electric SUV in India and will share its platform with the eVitara. However, Toyota has confirmed that the eBella will be available in two battery pack options of 49 kWh or 61 kWh with a claimed range of up to 543 km (ARAI certified). Other highlight features include Level 2 ADAS safety functions and DC fast charging. The Ebella electric SUV will again compete in the mid-sized segment and final prices are to be announced by the end of February 2026. For fans of Toyota SUVs, the Ebella will put forward an all-electric proposition after the success of its strong hybrid Urban Cruiser Hyryder.
