The Suzuki Swift is one of India’s favorite cars, which is often spotted zipping through city traffic. And now, there’s big development in its safety. The 2025 Suzuki Swift has received a 3-star safety rating from Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP), which is a big step up from its earlier score.
Last year, in December, the Swift had horrified its buyers when it scored only 1 star in the same test. After some updates and advancements to the car, ANCAP retested it and this time the car gained 3 stars. However Suzuki hasn’t revealed exactly what changes were made, but the new rating shows some improvement in passenger safety.
How the Swift Performed in Tests
Here’s how this SUV scored in different safety categories:
- Adult Occupant Protection: 26.87 out of 40 points
- Child Occupant Protection: 32.28 out of 49 points, which is around 65% protection
- Vulnerable Road User Protection: 48 out of 63 points, that is 76% protection for pedestrians and cyclists
- Safety Assist Features: 10.03 out of 18 points
Features That Helped
The 4th generation Swift in Australia comes with several
modern safety features, such as:
- Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB), which helps in avoiding collisions automatically.
- Lane Support System (LSS), that warns or corrects the car if it drifts out of lane.
- Speed Assist, that alerts if the driver overspeeds.
Why This Matters for Buyers
For everyday commuters, especially in India, the Swift has always been loved for its compact yet classy look, fuel efficiency, and easy handling. But safety has been a weak spot in the past for this car. Moving from 1 star to 3 stars may not sound like a big difference, but it shows that carmakers are taking crash safety more seriously. Indian buyers should also pay more attention to safety ratings, not just design and mileage.
