TVS Motor Company has recently ventured into the quickly growing ADV motorcycle segment in India, with the new Apache RTX 300. the manufacturer hopes to be the gateway product for new buyers, who are looking
to venture into the dual-sport segment and has an exciting starting price of Rs 1.99 lakh ex-showroom. However, with three variants on offer, is the cheapest variant of the RTX 300 really bang for your buck? Here's a quick explainer to help you understand better.

While the Top and BTO variants get some really cool features such as a bi-directional quickshifter, map-mirroring on the TFT screen and 5-way Bluetooth connectivity, the base model Apache RTX 300 makes a strong case of being the most value for money and here is why.
1. TVS Apache RTX 300 Base Model Engine:
The all-new Apache RTX gets the same engine and tune across all its variants. It is powered by the all-new RT-XD4 engine from TVS, which is a 299.1cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder, DOHC motor, producing 35.4 hp at 9,000 rpm and 28.5 Nm torque at 7,000 rpm, paired to a 6-speed transmission.
The most important highlight of the Apache RTX base model drivetrain is that it does not miss out on the Ride-By-Wire or the Assist and Slipper Clutch even in the under Rs 2 lakh RTX.
2. TVS Apache RTX 300 Base Model Equipment:
In the equipment department also, the base model RTX 300 checks all the boxes like the more expensive variants. It gets a steel trellis frame, aluminium cast swingarm, 41 mm front USD forks with 180 mm travel and rear monoshock with 180 mm travel. The front 320 mm and rear 240 mm disc brakes are also standard across all variants.
3. TVS Apache RTX 300 Base Model Safety Features:
Even the safety features have not been compromised in the name of the base model with the Apache RTX. It gets a switchable Dual-Channel ABS and a multi-mode Traction Control system to add that important safety net on long rides.
4. TVS Apache RTX 300 Base Model Segment-Leading Features:
Just because it is the cheapest RTX, does not mean that TVS has not provided several segment-leading features in the base model Apache RTX 300 as well. The wide range of features include a 5-inch TFT display, all LED lighting, a dual-pod LED headlamp unit that increases light intensity based on your speed, a cruise control function to assist in long tours and also 4 riding modes called Urban, Rain, Tour and Rally.
With the KTM 250 Adventure being the closest rival in terms of power, equipment and features, the value proposition of the new Apache RTX 300 is a strong one. That is because, apart from the KTM being over Rs 60,000 pricier, the TVS ADV offers most if not all of the features at a much lower price, even in its top-end BTO variant. So for those looking for a value for money all-rounder, the TVS Apache RTX 300 certainly makes a strong case for itself.
