In a recent post made on the X platform, Anand Mahindra shared how he has not driven any other car brand, except Mahindra, since he first drove an Armada. While the chairman today uses the flagship XEV 9e electric for his travels, he shared a nostalgic excerpt from the time he used to self-drive a first-generation Mahindra Bolero that he had nicknamed the 'Black Beast'.
Analysing the legacy of the Bolero brand, the chairman wrote that even after using the XEV 9e, it would still be the Bolero that he would prefer to drive himself. Anand Mahindra stated that it was the Bolero's ruggedness and simplicity that make it a worthy road warrior in 2025, despite more modern and up to date rivals present in the market.
Anand Mahindra made special mention of how the Bolero is the oldest Indian car brand that has been in continuous production, after the Maruti Suzuki Wagon R. Since 2000, the Bolero has been considered to be phased out among several Mahindra Auto team but is still around, evolving and adapting.
Mahindra recently launched the facelift version of the iconic Bolero SUV in India. Evolving to a younger customer base, it now offers diamond-cut alloy wheels, a 7-inch touchscreen, dual front airbags, steering-mounted controls and a lot more with the introduction of a new 'Stealth Black' colour option. With Prices starting from Rs 7.99 lakh ex-showroom, the Bolero continues to be an affordable no-nonsense 7-seater option built to last. While the Bolero may have evolved yet again, it still retains its original stance and silhouette that has been around for the last 25 years.
