BYD, the Chinese electric vehicle brand that entered Southeast Asia in 2022, is making waves with its latest model, the BYD Seal. In its very first assessment by the New Car Assessment Program for Southeast Asian Countries (ASEAN NCAP), the sedan earned a 5-star rating, scoring an impressive 92.07 points. The score reflects the Seal’s performance across four key safety areas: Adult Occupant Protection (38.44 points), Child Occupant Protection (16.60 points), Safety Assist (19.52 points), and Motorcyclist Safety (17.50 points).

The BYD Seal comes packed with safety tech across all its variants sold in Southeast Asia. Standard
features include nine airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) for city and inter-urban driving, pedestrian detection, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Auto High Beam (AHB), ISOFIX for child seats, and even AEB for motorcycles. A Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) covers front and rear occupants, while rear seat occupant detection adds another layer of protection.

Some markets have slight variations: in the Philippines and Vietnam, SBR is standard for the driver and front passenger, with rear-seat SBR offered as an option.

Dynamic – Rs 41,00,000, Rear-Wheel Drive, 510 km range
Premium – Rs 45,70,000, Rear-Wheel Drive, 650 km range
Performance – Rs 53,15,000, All-Wheel Drive, 580 km range
