Up To Rs 3 Lakh Benefits On Tesla Model Y In India - Minimum Down Payment Reduced

Tesla India has recently introduced several cost benefits and purchase schemes to promote the sales of its Model Y electric SUV in the country. The American electric vehicle (EV) maker entered India in 2025 and has positioned the Model Y as a premium mid-sized EV. With a starting price tag of Rs 59.89 lakh ex-showroom for the Model Y rear-wheel drive (RWD), here's a quick look at the multiple offers that the brand is extending to its customers.

Tesla India has introduced its Switch and Save program under which customers who exchange their old petrol or diesel cars for a Model Y will get an exchange benefit of Rs 3 lakh on the ex-showroom price. Under the exchange incentive, the Model Y is also being offered with a drive-away down payment of Rs 6

lakh and a monthly EMI of Rs 49,000. Tesla hopes that the reduced barrier to entry will further encourage buyers to consider its premium SUV.

Tesla further claims that switching to the Model Y could help petrol and diesel car users save up to Rs 20,000 in a month with reduced fuel and maintenance costs. These savings are calculated on an average monthly driving of 1,500 km. Furthermore, the complimentary wall charger included with the Model Y can further reduce running costs to approximately Rs 1 per km, according to the EV maker.

Currently, Tesla is offering the Model Y SUV in India under two trim levels. The Model Y RWD is priced at Rs 59.89 lakh ex-showroom and the Model Y Long-Range RWD costs Rs 67.89 lakh ex-showroom. While the RWD version has a claimed range of 500 km on a full charge, the Long-Range RWD extends that figure to 661 km. Apart from range, the two variants of the Tesla Model Y offer identical features and specifications.

With the exchange incentives and reduced barrier to entry, Tesla is now offering a more lucrative deal to Model Y customers and prospective buyers from the lower segments as well. With its current price tag, the Model Y competes against other premium mid-sized electric SUVs such as the BMW iX1 and the Mercedes-Benz EQA. Chinese brands such as BYD also undercut the Model Y with models such as the Sealion 7 with similar range figures and an all-wheel drive powertrain.
