The Bajaj Pulsar NS400Z has been updated with a new 349cc engine, replacing the earlier 373cc unit and this change directly affects performance, positioning as well as overall riding character. The price stands at Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom) and the bike now uses a 349.13cc, liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine, marking a clear shift in Bajaj’s approach for its flagship Pulsar. While the bike continues in the same segment, the revised engine setup alters output figures and power delivery. For buyers, this update is not just about capacity reduction but how the motorcycle performs in real-world conditions.
New 349cc Engine: Output And Key Changes
The biggest change for the Bajaj NS400Z is the move from a 373cc engine to a 349.13cc unit. The new motor produces around 40.6 PS at 9,000
rpm and 33.2 Nm of torque at 7,500 rpm.
Compared to the older setup, this represents a reduction of roughly 2.4 PS and around 1.8 Nm of torque. The torque peak has also shifted higher in the rev range, moving from 6,500 rpm earlier to 7,500 rpm now.
Mechanically, the bore remains unchanged but the stroke has been reduced from 60 mm to 56.1 mm. This brings down overall displacement. This change is likely aimed at improving engine characteristics rather than outright power.
Performance Impact And Riding Behaviour
With the revised engine, the NS400Z is expected to deliver a slightly different riding experience. The lower torque output and higher torque peak suggest reduced low-end pull but a more rev-focused character.
In practical terms, this could mean the bike feels less aggressive at lower speeds but more responsive when pushed harder. The power figure of around 40.6 PS still keeps it competitive in the segment even though it is lower than before.
The six-speed gearbox continues along with assist and slipper clutch, which helps maintain smoother shifts and better control during aggressive riding. The overall hardware setup remains unchanged, so handling and braking characteristics are expected to stay consistent.

Price, Positioning And What It Means
The updated NS400Z is priced at Rs 1.94 lakh (ex-showroom) with only minor changes despite the engine revision. This keeps it in the same price bracket as before.
From a positioning standpoint, Bajaj appears to be aligning the NS400Z with its newer engine platform. The focus shifts slightly from peak performance to a more balanced setup that can work across city and highway conditions.
What stands out is that the update is not about adding more power but refining the package. Buyers considering the NS400Z will need to look beyond engine size and focus on how the revised motor changes everyday usability and riding feel.
