The introduction of GST 2.0 has brought significant relief for scooter buyers in India. The new tax structure has reduced GST on two-wheelers with engine capacities up to 350 cc from 28 percent to 18 percent.
This has directly translated into price cuts for popular 125cc scooters such as the Honda Activa 125 and the TVS Jupiter 125. Here’s a detailed comparison of how both scooters are priced after the revision and what they offer in return.
Following the new GST norms, the Honda Activa 125 now costs less by up to Rs 8,259. The updated prices start at Rs 88,339 for the DLX variant and go up to Rs 91,983 for the top-end H-Smart variant. The TVS Jupiter 125, meanwhile, gets a price cut of up to Rs 6,795. After the revision, the Jupiter 125 lineup starts at Rs 82,100 for the Drum Alloy version, followed by Rs 87,400 for the Disc variant, Rs 88,000 for the DT SXC, and Rs 92,500 for the SmartXonnect model.
Powering the Activa 125 is a 123.92 cc, 4-stroke, SI engine producing 8.31 hp at 6500 rpm and 10.5 Nm of torque at 5000 rpm. The Jupiter 125 uses a 124.8 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that makes 8.04 hp at 6500 rpm (8.4 hp with Assist) and 10.5 Nm at 4500 rpm (11.1 Nm with Assist). Both scooters use CVT automatic transmissions, offering smooth and practical city performance.

In terms of dimensions, the Activa 125 measures 1850 mm in length, 707 mm in width, and 1160 mm in height, with a 1260 mm wheelbase. It offers 162 mm of ground clearance, a 765 mm seat height, and weighs 107 kg. The Jupiter 125 is slightly larger, measuring 1852 mm long, 691 mm wide, and 1168 mm tall, with a longer 1275 mm wheelbase and 163 mm ground clearance. It features a longer seat at 790 mm and a kerb weight of 108 kg.

Both scooters use telescopic front suspension, but the Jupiter 125 gets a more advanced twin-tube emulsion rear shock absorber setup. Braking duties are handled by a 190 mm front disc and 130 mm rear drum on the Activa, while the Jupiter offers a larger 220 mm front disc and 130 mm rear drum. Overall, both models have become more affordable post-GST 2.0, with the Jupiter offering a slightly better value proposition for its features, while the Activa continues to appeal through its reliability and strong resale value.
