Passenger EV demand kept its momentum in October, with retail numbers climbing sharply and Tata Motors once again setting the pace. According to data shared by FADA, electric passenger vehicle sales touched
18,055 units last month, a strong 57% jump over the 11,464 units recorded in October 2024.

Tata remained comfortably in front with 7,239 units, while MG Motor India continued its steady climb, closing the month at 4,549 units. That translates to year-on-year growth of 10% for Tata and an impressive 63% surge for MG. Mahindra & Mahindra made one of the biggest leaps in the segment, registering 3,911 units compared to just 955 in the same month last year, securing third place. Among the other EV players, Kia accounted for 656 units, and BYD followed with 570.
The broader electric two-wheeler space also inched forward. Retail sales rose to 1,43,887 units, up 3% from 1,40,225 units in October 2024. Bajaj Auto led the pack with 31,426 registrations, just ahead of TVS Motor, which posted 29,515 units. Ather Energy wasn’t far behind at 28,101 units, while Ola Electric logged 16,036. Hero MotoCorp (15,952 units) and Greaves Electric Mobility (7,629 units) rounded out the top performers.

Electric three-wheelers continued their steady upward trajectory with 70,604 units sold, marking a 5% year-on-year increase. The commercial EV segment, however, was the month’s standout. Registrations more than doubled to 1,767 units compared with October last year, signalling rising confidence in electric mobility across business and fleet operations.
