Honda has launched the ZR-V as a completely built-up import at Rs 47.99 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it the most expensive Honda car sold in India with a strong-hybrid powertrain rated at 22.80 kmpl. The SUV comes in a single, fully loaded variant only, using a 2.0-litre Atkinson-cycle petrol engine paired with a dual-motor hybrid system that produces 181 bhp and up to 315 Nm through an eCVT gearbox. This matters because Honda is entering premium SUV territory currently held by the Skoda Kodiaq, Jeep Meridian and Volkswagen Tiguan R-Line, but without offering any variant flexibility on price. Here's what the mileage, features and hybrid system actually deliver.
How Does The Hybrid System Actually Work?
The ZR-V's engine and dual-motor system automatically switch between EV Drive, Hybrid
Drive and Engine Drive depending on driving conditions and balance performance with the claimed 22.80 kmpl efficiency figure. Honda quotes a 0-100 kmph time of 7.9 seconds and the system also offers regenerative braking through paddle selectors alongside Econ, Normal and Sport drive modes. Honda has confirmed the engine is E20-compliant meaning it's built to run on 20% ethanol-blended petrol which is now the standard fuel at most Indian pumps.
What Features Come Standard?
Since there's only one variant, every ZR-V buyer gets the same equipment: a 9-inch floating touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker Bose sound system, a 10.2-inch digital instrument display, a gesture-controlled power tailgate, dual-zone automatic climate control as well as a wireless phone charger.
Safety kit includes 8 airbags, Level 2 ADAS, a 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and disc brakes on all four wheels alongside hill start assist, hill descent control and an electronic parking brake with auto hold.
How Does It Compare On Space And Rivals?
Boot space stands at 380 litres with all seats up, expanding to 1,313 litres with the rear seats folded, figures worth comparing directly against the Skoda Kodiaq and Jeep Meridian if cargo space matters for your use case. Both those rivals offer three-row seating, which the ZR-V doesn't, positioning it more as a five-seat alternative for buyers prioritising hybrid efficiency over outright passenger capacity.
