The Maruti Suzuki Dzire was the best-selling car in India in April 2026, with 23,580 units units sold, compared to last year's 16,996 units. The compact sedan registered a growth 38.74% year-on-year while maintaining market share of 12.85%. Though SUVs dominate passenger vehicle segment of India, the Dzire continues to maintain its ground in the space, with affordable pricing, modern features such as sunroof, a 360 degree camera, as well as distinct design. Notably, it was Maruti's first car in India to score the perfect 5-star safety rating from the Global NCAP.
The all-new Dzire uses the same 1.2-litre Z Series naturally aspirated (NA) petrol unit that powers the Swift hatchback. The unit generates 80hp and 112Nm, mated to a 5-speed manual

Tata Punch, Punch EV
The Tata Punch, and its electrified sibling together sold 19,107 units in April 2026, showing a massive rise of 52.90% year-on-year growth, which is the highest among all the top-selling models on the list. For reference, the SUV 12,496 units sold in April of last year.
Maruti Suzuki Ertiga
The Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was the third best-seller last month, with 19,063 units sold overall, which is more than the 15,780 units sold during the same month in 2025. This led to a YoY growth of 20.80%.
Maruti Suzuki Fronx
The Fronx secured the fourth position on the sales chart with 18,829 units sold. The crossover witnessed a gain of 31.26% year-on-year growth compared to last year's 14,345 units.
Maruti Suzuki Wagon R
The Maruti Suzuki Wagon R emerged as the fifth best-selling car in India in April 2026. It sold 18,648 units, registering a growth of a 39.03% over 13,413 units sold during the same time last year.

The Maruti Suzuki Baleno secured the sixth position on the list, with 18,306 units sold. It was followed by the Tata Nexon (including EV), which recorded 18,126 units.
