The new Tata Motors Sierra has been officially unveiled, and all questions regarding the production version of the SUV have now been answered. The resurrection of the Sierra nameplate required the carmaker
to hit all the nostalgic notes while competing as a rival in the mid-sized SUV segment in terms of design, technology, and features. At the unveiling, Tata Motors shared several details on exciting tech that the new SUV features, using terms such as TheaterPro, SonicShaft and PanoraMax. Here is a quick explainer on what it means.

While the new Sierra retains important design cues from its predecessor, it also reinterprets major elements such as the three-quarter glasshouse that mimics the 3-door version. The new SUV instead offers a panoramic sunroof that gives a greenhouse effect and the flush glazing with black-painted roof finisher gives it a nostalgic twist from the older version. The SUV's silhouette remains upright and purposeful as it gets an emphasized shoulder line and short overhangs. Now, let's understand the tech behind the fancy marketing terms.
Tata Sierra Light Saber:
The Light Saber feature in the Tata Sierra refers to the full-width LED DRL that highlights the front design of the SUV. It forms a seamless backlit curve and the signature is also continued at the rear. Other highlights include the 19-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, flush door handles, a clamshell tailgate and gloss black body cladding.
New Tata Sierra Life Space:
Life Space basically refers to the experience that the carmaker has attempted to design for the passengers inside the SUV. Intended to serve as a comfortable lounge space, the Sierra's cabin comes with the TheaterPro multi-screen setup, which is integrated into a single glass layout called the Horizon View screen. It will allow both the front passenger and driver to access the infotainment or entertainment to suit their needs.
Tata Sierra SonicShaft soundbar:
Tata Motors also gives a fancy name to the Sierra's onboard audio system, called the SonicShaft Soundbar. It refers to the 12-speaker JBL Black audio system that also features Dolby Atmos, giving a signature auditory experience to passengers.
New Tata Sierra With PanoraMax:
The PanoraMax refers to the panoramic sunroof that lifts the ambience inside the Sierra. Tata Motors claims that the SUV gets the largest panoramic sunroof in the segment, which is further combined with the rear and quarter window glasshouse to offer a free-flowing environment. The ambient lighting inside the SUV further enhances the experience at night.
Design elements that we have just discussed are also responsible for the Tata Motors Sierra earning the globally recognised Red Dot Design Award, by 15 experts from 13 different countries. It remains to be seen if the Sierra's design and nostalgia will be enough for it to give serious competition to segment leaders such as the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos.
