For this comparison, we will pit the recently launched Maruti Suzuki Victoris against the soon to be launched Tata Motors Sierra. Both SUVs will compete against strong rivals in the mid-sized SUV segment and offer multiple engine options, hi-tech features and an attractive design.
1. Maruti Suzuki Victoris:
In September 2025, India's largest carmaker, Maruti Suzuki, launched the Victoris SUV in the mid-sized segment. The all-new design of the Victoris and multiple drivetrain options such as petrol, CNG and strong hybrid make it appealing to a wide set of buyers. The Victoris also comes with a modern cabin design and first-time features such as a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, powered tailgate with gesture control, panoramic sunroof, Level 2 ADAS safety system, 6 airbags and a Dolby Atmos 8-speaker audio system. The Victoris is available in 21 variants and prices range between Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh ex-showroom, making it highly accessible.
2. Tata Motors Sierra:
The newest contender in the mid-sized SUV segment will be the resurrected, next-gen Tata Motors Sierra SUV. It gets a butch and rugged design language that integrates futuristic elements such as the connected LED DRL and tailamps. Inside the Sierra's cabin, passengers will have access to a futuristic infinity screen layout and minimalistic architecture. It checks all the tech boxes with a three-screen setup, panoramic sunroof, and 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, 6 airbags, dual-zone climate control and a 12-speaker JBL Black audio system. Buyers will get the option of both petrol and diesel engine options in the Sierra, along with an all-electric Sierra EV, which is expected to launch alongside the ICE version. While official prices for the Sierra will be announced at the launch on November 2025, it is expected to cost between the Rs 11 lakh to Rs 20 lakh bracket.
While the Maruti Suzuki Victoris offers a simpler and more balanced design language, the Sierra kicks it up a notch with its rugged and imposing look and feel. In terms of tech, both SUVs are loaded with features that buyers expect from the segment. The biggest differentiator between the two SUVs is the CNG and strong hybrid drivetrain of the Victoris versus the diesel and all-electric version of the Sierra.
