Skoda has just opened bookings for the Skoda Kodiaq RS in India against a Rs 3 lakh token amount and here's the catch, only 50 units are actually coming to the country, making this the most limited model in Skoda's India lineup right now. That scarcity is really why this matters if you're tracking the brand, since missing this booking window probably means missing the car altogether, at least for this first batch. Here's what actually sets this performance SUV apart from the regular Kodiaq and Skoda's other RS-badged cars already on sale here.
How Fast Is The Kodiaq RS Compared To The Octavia RS?
Despite being the bigger, heavier car of the two, the Skoda Kodiaq RS runs the same 265 hp 2.0-litre EA888 turbo-petrol as the Octavia RS but it's tuned for 400 Nm of torque, a full 30 Nm more. Pair that
with standard all-wheel drive and the same 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox and you get a claimed 0-100 kmph time of 6.3 seconds, genuinely quicker than the Octavia RS manages. Top speed is where the SUV gives some ground back though, 231 kmph against the Octavia's 250 kmph, which makes sense once you factor in the extra ride height and the weight of all that AWD hardware.
What Makes The Kodiaq RS Different From Regular Kodiaq?
It sits above the standard Kodiaq as a more track-focused offering, built specifically around that turbo-petrol engine, standard AWD and an adaptive suspension setup you won't find on any other Skoda sold in India right now. The standout bit here is Dynamic Chassis Control Plus, offering 15 levels of damping adjustment, something even the India-spec Octavia RS misses out on. It's tied into seven drive modes, Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual, Snow and Off-Road with each one adjusting suspension stiffness, throttle response and steering weight all together rather than one at a time.
Skoda has not put out an official price yet, but going by where the regular Kodiaq already sits, Rs 36.99 lakh to Rs 46.99 lakh, the RS should land north of Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom) once it actually launches. Until then, that Rs 3 lakh token is the only way to lock down one of the 50 units on offer.
