VinFast has opened bookings for its VF MPV 7 electric MPV in India with a Rs 21,000 token amount, ahead of its April 15 price reveal. For buyers, this matters because it signals a serious push into the family EV space where options remain limited. On the surface, it’s just another launch. But the bigger story is timing as VinFast is entering a segment that is still developing, and doing so with a product focused on space, range and everyday usability rather than niche appeal.
A New Electric MPV Enters A Sparse Segment
The bookings for the VF MPV 7 have opened today through VinFast’s official website and via its network of 50 dealerships across India. The company is positioning this as a premium seven-seater electric MPV aimed at family buyers.
This is VinFast’s third model in India after
the VF 6 and VF 7 SUVs, but unlike those, the MPV 7 targets a more practical use case. With dimensions of 4,740 mm in length and a 2,840 mm wheelbase, the focus is clearly on cabin space and usability across three rows.
That matters because the electric MPV space in India is still largely untapped. Most EV options today are either compact SUVs or premium offerings, which leaves a gap for larger family-oriented vehicles.
What The Product Tells You About VinFast’s Strategy
The VF MPV 7 isn’t just about adding another model. It reflects VinFast’s attempt to build a broader ecosystem in India. The company is expanding its dealership network, strengthening aftersales support and offering ownership benefits like extended warranties, trade-in programs and free charging through its V-Green network until 2029.
On the product side, the MPV comes with a 60.13 kWh battery and a claimed range of over 500 km. Fast charging from 10% to 70% in around 30 minutes addresses one of the biggest concerns for EV buyers - downtime.
Put together, this shows VinFast is not positioning itself as a niche EV brand. It’s aiming for scale and the MPV is a key part of that approach.

What Buyers Should Watch Before April 15
Right now, the biggest unknown is pricing. That will determine whether the VF MPV 7 remains a niche product or becomes a serious alternative to ICE MPVs and emerging electric options. If priced competitively, the combination of space, range as well as charging convenience could make it relevant for larger families and fleet buyers. If not, it risks being seen as a premium experiment.
There’s also the question of real-world ownership. VinFast is still building its presence in India and factors like service reach and resale confidence will influence buying decisions.
For now, bookings opening is just the first step. The real test comes when pricing is announced because that’s what will decide how many buyers move from interest to commitment.
