January 2026 has begun on a confident note for Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India as the company reported 5,74,411 two-wheelers sold in a single month, which is a strong 29% year-on-year growth compared to January last year.
Out of the total January sales, 5,19,579 units came from the domestic market, while 54,832 units were exported to other countries. This shows that while India remains the core market for Honda, its products are also finding steady acceptance overseas.Looking at the bigger picture, from April 2025 to January 2026 (FY26 year-to-date), HMSI has already sold 52,53,205 units. That includes 47,23,979 units in India and 5,29,226 units exported. These numbers underline how deeply Honda is embedded in India’s everyday mobility story.
January was not only about selling vehicles. Honda intensified its “Safety for Everyone” outreach with road safety awareness drives across cities such as Ahmednagar, Alibag, Ballabgarh, Bhubaneswar, Dausa, Guwahati, Gwalior, Hosapete, Kakinada, Kasaragod,
Kurukshetra, Raipur, and Surat.

In Malappuram, Kerala, HMSI hosted a Road Safety Convention engaging school principals and teachers, a move aimed at teaching safe road habits from a young age. The company also rolled out the Jaipur Ideal Road Safety Project during National Road Safety Month, reinforcing its focus on education, not just engineering.
Honda also strengthened its retail presence by opening new authorised dealerships in Erode, Bilaspur, Moradabad, and Udhampur. These outlets are staffed with trained sales and service teams, improving accessibility for customers in smaller cities and towns, where two-wheelers are often the primary mode of transport.
A key part of Honda’s strategy is integrating safety tech across its lineup. Features like ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) and CBS (Combined Braking System) are increasingly common on its motorcycles and scooters. For a new rider, these systems help maintain control during sudden braking and reduce the chances of skidding.
Honda says this is not just about meeting regulations but about building a safer, cleaner, and more responsible mobility ecosystem. A 29 percent rise is not accidental as it reflects trust in reliability, fuel efficiency, and ease of ownership, which are the qualities Indian riders value deeply. With strong sales, wider outreach, and a push for safety education, HMSI’s January performance shows that growth and responsibility can go hand in hand.
