Ather Energy has achieved a major production milestone by rolling out its 500,000th electric scooter from its Hosur facility in Tamil Nadu, marking a significant step in the company’s growth journey since it launched its first product in 2018.
The half-a-millionth unit produced was the Ather Rizta — a model that has quickly become central to the company’s success. Introduced in 2024, the Rizta now accounts for more than one-third of Ather’s total production volume. In September 2025, the company registered its highest-ever monthly sales of 18,109 units, largely driven by demand for the Rizta among family buyers.
To support rising demand, Ather is expanding its manufacturing capacity beyond Hosur. The company currently operates two facilities there
— one for vehicle assembly and another for battery production — together capable of producing 4.2 lakh scooters annually. Construction is also underway on a third plant, dubbed “Factory 3.0,” in Bidkin, Auric (Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar), Maharashtra. Built to Industry 4.0 standards, the new site will take Ather’s total production capacity to 1.42 million electric two-wheelers a year once operational.

Commenting on the achievement, Swapnil Jain, Co-founder and Chief Technology Officer of Ather Energy, said, “Crossing 5 lakh scooters is a major milestone for us. From our first prototype to now, the focus has always been on building a scalable and reliable manufacturing ecosystem backed by rigorous testing and quality engineering.”
Ather has also been actively growing its retail network to strengthen its national presence. The company now operates over 500 showrooms across India, with 101 new outlets added between June and August 2025. Much of the recent expansion has been in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities, extending Ather’s reach beyond its core metropolitan markets.

As of September 2025, Ather holds a 17 percent share of India’s electric two-wheeler market, ranking third among manufacturers. Alongside production expansion, the company is developing its next-generation EL platform, which will underpin several upcoming models to be built at the new Maharashtra plant.
