Tata Motors recently launched the new generation of its popular Punch compact SUV in India. In its latest avatar, the Punch has become sleeker in design and gets a generously updated features list with an enhanced focus on safety. This time around, the Punch gets functions such as a 360-degree parking camera, hill hold assist, 6 airbags, in addition to Tata's 'Safety Dome Body Shell' architecture that gives it enhanced rigidity and protection. Building on the same, the 2026 Punch has now scored a 5-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP. Here are the test results.
According to the Bharat NCAP crash test report, the 2026 Punch has scored 5 stars in both adult and child occupant safety. For adults, the compact SUV scored 30.58 out of 32 and for
children, it scored 45 out of 49. The front offset crash test showed 'Good' and 'Adequate' levels of protection and the side impact crash test showed 'Good' amount of protection.
In the interest of prospective buyers, the 5-star crash safety rating from Bharat NCAP applies to all variants of the new Punch SUV. These include the manual, AMT automatic and CNG manual and automatic versions. Overall, the 2026 Punch is available in eight different trim levels called Smart, Pure, Pure Plus, Pure Plus S, Adventure, Adventure S, Accomplished and Accomplished Plus S.

Prices for the 2026 Tata Punch start from Rs 5.59 lakh ex-showroom for the Smart variant and go up to Rs 8.99 lakh ex-showroom for the Accomplished Plus S variant. Safety features, including 6 airbags, an electronic stability program, hill hold assist, and ISOFIX for child seats, are standard equipment in the SUV, resulting in a 5-star crash safety rating from the base variant itself. Higher variants now offer safety functions that were not available in the earlier version, such as a 360-degree parking camera, blind spot view monitor, tyre pressure monitoring system, fog lamps with cornering function and also SOS calling function for emergencies. The latest scores make the new Punch a segment leader in terms of safety in the compact SUV space.
