Tata Motors has announced that it has recorded a YoY sales growth of 47% in January 2026. The volume driver for the brand were models such as the Nexon, Punch and Tiago. It is important to note that, with
this, Tata Motors has also achieved its highest-ever monthly passenger vehicle sales last month. It crossed the 71,000 unit mark, which indicates the popularity of its compact SUVs and entry-level hatchbacks. Tata Motors: January 2026 Sales Overview
Last month, Tata Motors achieved a significant milestone as it witnessed its highest-ever monthly sales of 71,066 units. In terms of growth, this marks a 47% increase over the last year's performance.
Talking about domestic sales, the company delivered 70,222 units as compared to 48,076 units during the corresponding period last year. This translates to a 46.1% YoY growth. Exports-wise, we see a 251.7% growth as Tata dispatched 844 units for the said month. Last year in January, it has shipped 240 units.
Coming to the EV sales, the carmaker sold 9,052 units in January, compared to 5,240 units sold last year. This resulted in a YoY increase of 72.7%.
Tata Nexon Leads The Charge
The Tata Nexon remained the brand’s top-selling model and played a central role in January’s growth. The brand sold 23,000 units of the SUV last month, which is highest-ever for the model. In fact, it also surpassed the cumulative sales figure of 10 lakh units. Available with petrol, diesel and electric powertrains, the Nexon benefits from wide market coverage and consistent demand across private and fleet buyers. Both ICE and EV versions contributed to volumes.
Tata Punch Strengthens Entry-Level SUV Volumes
The Tata Punch continued to post strong numbers, reinforcing its position as a high-volume entry-level SUV. The Punch also recorded the best-ever monthly sales performance. 19,000 units of the micro-SUV were sold. Its compact dimensions, competitive pricing and availability in petrol and electric versions have expanded its appeal across urban and semi-urban markets.

Tata Tiago Leads Hatchback Demand
The Tata Tiago provided stability at the lower end of the portfolio. Despite rising SUV demand, the Tiago continues to attract buyers looking for affordable city cars. Petrol, CNG and electric variants helped the Tiago maintain relevance and volume contribution, particularly in cost-sensitive markets.
