Royal Enfield has supplied four Himalayan 450 motorcycles to the British Army for use in training exercises. These bikes will serve with the Army’s Motorised Adventure (AMA) group during events like EX Mudmaster and EX Roadmaster. First shown during the Army Motorsport Day at Thruxton Circuit on 10 September 2023, the Himalayan 450s will also feature at Motorcycle Live at Birmingham’s NEC Arena from 15–23 November.
Lieutenant Colonel Nick Foulerton says the new fleet lets personnel get on two wheels, develop serious off-road skills and build confidence for expeditions at home and abroad. This is not just a showcase; it’s real-world training on a capable Indian-built machine.

These sessions will cover technical riding, tactical planning, and off-bike skills such as physical prep and mental conditioning. For Indian riders familiar with the Himalayan 450, this partnership confirms what they already know: the bike is built for reliability and adventure, not showroom posing.
George Cheeseman, Royal Enfield’s UK and International Region Manager, says the brand wanted to back a programme with genuine purpose. The move places the Himalayan 450 in one of the toughest proving grounds available: the British Army, and highlights how far Royal Enfield’s engineering and global reach have come.
