Honda has announced that it will launch a new sub-4m SUV in India in 2028, making its comeback into the segment following the discontinuation of the WR-V in March 2023. For now, there is no exact information on the specifications or even name of the upcoming model, but it is believed that the Honda sub 4 meter SUV will help brand strengthen its presence in the competitive automotive space of India. It will also join the Amaze as the second sub-4m model in the range. Alongside this, Honda has also revealed its plans to introduce a mid-size vehicle in the Indian market. The upcoming mid-size car will reportedly be the 0 Alpha, its maiden EV for India. Coming to the sub-4m model, the details are unavailable at the moment, but here's what we can

New Honda Sub-4m SUV Design
Honda has not disclosed specifications about the new sub-4m SUV. Industry reports, however, suggests that the SUV could borrow design elements from the Elevate, including a large rectangular-shaped vertical grille, slim LED projector headlights, and wraparound LED taillamps. The SUV is also likely to have a more upright stance, and a beefy cladding.

The cabin of the Honda's new sub 4 meter SUV will likely be a mix of practicality and elegance. It is expected to come equipped with ventilated seats, a large touchscreen infotainment system that supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a sunroof, automatic climate control, a fully digital instrument cluster as well as wireless charging. Honda is also likely to add ADAS to the safety net, beyond the standard features.
New Honda Sub-4m SUV Powertrain
Under the hood, the new Honda car is likely to have the same 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that does duty on the Amaze sedan. The petrol unit produces 88.5hp at 6,000rpm and 110Nm at 4,800rpm, and can be paired with either a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed CVT automatic. Honda could also bring a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine, which it offers overseas, for the new compact SUV to strengthen its competition against rivals that already offer turbocharged powertrains. A strong-hybrid option could also be on the cards.

New Honda Sub-4m SUV Expected Price
Although it is soon to comment on price, the new Honda SUV is expected to be priced aggressively, with a starting price hitting the mark of Rs 9 lakh (ex-showroom). It will compete against the Tata Nexon, Maruti Suzuki Brezza, Hyundai Venue and Kia Sonet.
