Maruti Suzuki is gearing up to launch its first all-electric SUV, the e Vitara, in India on December 2, 2025. This model has been in the works for quite some time, and its debut will mark Maruti’s formal
entry into the country’s passenger EV segment. The e Vitara is being produced exclusively at Maruti Suzuki’s Hansalpur facility in Gujarat, which also serves as the global export hub. Production has been underway since August, with nearly 7,000 units already shipped to European markets, including the UK, Germany, France, and Norway.
Built on Suzuki’s new Heartect-e platform, developed specifically for electric vehicles, the e Vitara will come with two battery pack options: 49kWh and 61kWh. The smaller unit powers a front-mounted motor producing 144hp and offers a WLTP-rated range of 344km. The 61kWh version makes 174hp in its two-wheel-drive configuration and delivers up to 428km of range. There’s also a dual-motor, all-wheel-drive setup on offer internationally, which bumps power to 184hp, though this variant may not arrive in India immediately. Maruti is expected to start with the 61kWh 2WD version, which should deliver over 500km on the Indian ARAI test cycle.

Design-wise, the e Vitara carries forward cues from the EVX concept, showcased earlier this year. Expect angular LED headlamps with signature Y-shaped DRLs, prominent body cladding, connected tail-lamps, and a muscular stance. Inside, Maruti has gone for a clean, modern layout featuring a twin-screen setup, a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen paired with a 10.25-inch digital driver display. The cabin also gets a rotary gear selector, soft-touch materials on the dashboard, and ambient lighting.
In terms of equipment, the e Vitara will likely pack features such as ventilated front seats, wireless charging, a 360-degree camera, a 10-way power-adjustable driver’s seat, and Level 2 ADAS in higher trims. Maruti is also building an EV support network alongside the launch, with DC fast chargers at Nexa outlets and over 1,500 EV-ready service centres across 1,000 cities.
