Tata Sierra EV will officially arrive in the Indian market tomorrow, June 30. Interestingly, the brand's own teasers have already confirmed more details than usual ahead of the launch. Tata Motors recently took to its social media handles to offer a glimpse of the Sierra EV's design, interior and several features. That matters if you've been waiting to decide between this and rivals like the Creta Electric or Mahindra BE 6 because you already know more about this car's cabin and drivetrain than buyers usually get before launch day.
Tata Sierra EV Range Details
Tata Motors has confirmed the range-topping dual-motor AWD variant produces 500 Nm of torque paired with a "Boost Mode" and six customisable terrain modes for different surfaces. Based on what's expected to carry over
from the Harrier EV's battery options, the Sierra EV is likely to come in three configurations: a 65kWh single-motor RWD version with around 538 km of claimed range, a 75kWh single-motor RWD variant pushing past 627 km as well as the AWD version combining a 234.7 hp rear motor with about 156 hp front motor for around 622 km. None of these range figures are officially confirmed yet, so treat them as a reasonable estimate based on shared hardware rather than a locked number.
Tata Sierra EV Interior
This is where Tata has been unusually forthcoming. Confirmed features include a black-and-white cabin theme, a panoramic sunroof, a triple-screen dashboard layout along with a head-up display. The Sierra EV's exterior and interior design also closely mirror the layout of its ICE sibling just with EV-specific details swapped in.
Beyond what's confirmed, expect wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a 12-speaker JBL sound system, ventilated front seats with a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat with memory function, dual-zone climate control and connected car features. On safety, six airbags, a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS and electronic stability control are all expected though Tata hasn't issued a formal feature list yet.
Tata Sierra EV Expected Price
Industry estimates put the starting price north of Rs 15 lakh, ex-showroom, though that figure could shift lower if Tata offers a Battery-as-a-Service option at launch which would separate the battery cost from the upfront price the way some other EV makers already do.
Expect this to position the Sierra EV against the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, MG ZS EV, VinFast VF7 as well as Toyota Urban Cruiser EV. Final pricing and the complete spec sheet will only be confirmed at tomorrow's reveal.
