Maruti Suzuki has announced that its Jimny 5-door SUV has crossed the 1 lakh export milestone within just two years of commencement of exports. The SUV, built entirely in India, has quickly found success
in several global markets.
The Jimny 5-door is shipped to more than 100 countries, including key destinations like Japan, Australia, Mexico, South Africa, and Chile. It is now the brand’s second most exported model after the Fronx. Interestingly, when the SUV was introduced in Japan earlier this year as the ‘Jimny Nomade’, it received a massive response, with over 50,000 orders placed in a short span of time.

The SUV’s growing appeal lies in its authentic off-road capability and rugged design. Built on a ladder-frame chassis, it comes equipped with Suzuki’s ALLGRIP PRO 4WD system and a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The setup gives the Jimny 5-door strong low-end torque for off-road trails while still being practical for daily driving. This balance between performance and everyday usability has helped the model connect with a wide range of customers across continents.
Maruti Suzuki’s Managing Director and CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi, said the export success of the Jimny 5-door reflects its strong heritage and engineering. He noted that crossing 1 lakh exports is a proud moment for the company and a sign of the trust global customers have placed in the SUV’s reliability and capability.
