Volkswagen has opened pre-bookings for the Tayron R-Line in India ahead of its official launch expected later this month. Positioned as the brand’s new flagship SUV for the Indian market, the Tayron R-Line is a three-row offering that will sit above the Tiguan in Volkswagen’s local portfolio. Interested buyers can now reserve the SUV at authorised dealerships or through Volkswagen India’s official website. The pre-booking move provides early buyers an opportunity to secure priority delivery as Volkswagen prepares to expand its premium SUV presence in India.

Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Booking Amount And Availability
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line pre-bookings are open at a token amount of Rs 51,000. The booking amount is fully
refundable, though buyers are advised to confirm terms at the time of reservation. Pre-bookings are currently open nationwide, and deliveries are expected to begin shortly after the official price announcement. Volkswagen has not yet disclosed variant-wise allocations. This indicates that initial availability could be limited during the early phase of launch.
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Positioning And Segment
The Tayron R-Line will be Volkswagen’s primary three-row SUV offering in India and is expected to replace the space previously occupied by the Tiguan Allspace. With a seven-seat layout, it targets buyers looking for a premium family SUV with European styling and performance credentials. The R-Line trim signals a sportier visual package, which will be standard at launch. In terms of market competition, the Tayron will compete with models such as the Skoda Kodiaq and Toyota Fortuner in the premium SUV segment.
Volkswagen Tayron R-Line: Engine And Mechanical Setup
Power comes from a 2.0-litre turbo-petrol TSI engine, paired with a 7-speed DSG automatic transmission and all-wheel drive. The engine produces 201 hp and 320 Nm, enabling a 0–100 km/h sprint in around 7.3 seconds, with a top speed of 224 km/h.

Inside, the SUV features a tech-focused cabin with a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and a 15-inch touchscreen infotainment system. Equipment includes multi-zone climate control, configurable ambient lighting, electrically adjustable and ventilated front seats with heating and massage functions and Level 2 ADAS. Safety is handled by multiple airbags, electronic stability control, hill hold assist, parking sensors and a 360-degree camera.
Volkswagen is likely to reveal other specifications, variant details and pricing closer to launch. It may be priced in the range of Rs 48 lakh-Rs 50 lakh. With pre-bookings now open, the Tayron R-Line marks Volkswagen’s next major product introduction for India in 2026.
