The all-new KTM RC 160 is here to justify that you don't need to spend a fortune to buy a head-turning supersport. At a starting price of Rs 1.85 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), this KTM bike delivers raw and unfiltered performance for which the Austrian brand has always been known. Compared to its closest rival, the Yamaha R15, the RC 160 carries RC 390 design DNA, a bigger 164.2cc engine, a larger fuel tank and a longer wheelbase. It also offers more premium hardware. If you've been eyeing a fully-faired performance machine without burning a hole in your pocket, the KTM RC 160 is worth obsessing over. Here's a closer look at its engine, price, colours, mileage, and features.
KTM RC 160 Engine and Mileage
At the KTM bike's core, there is a 164.2cc liquid-cooled SOHC engine that
pumps out 18.74hp at 9,500rpm and 15.5Nm at 7,500rpm, with a redline set at 10,200rpm. Power is transmitted through a 6-speed gearbox. The bike also uses an assist and slipper clutch. The KTM supersport has a claimed mileage of 36km/l, which is quite decent for a liquid-cooled performance engine.
KTM RC 160 Design
If you're a true KTM enthusiast, you can notice that the bigger RC 200 and RC 390 have been used as inspiration for designing the RC 160. The aggressive full fairing and a race-crouched riding position and a fighter-jet stance add to its performance look, while LED lighting and an aerodynamic profile help it to maintain its appeal among modern buyers. As a commuter with fairings, the RC 160 genuinely looks apart.
KTM RC 160 Colours And Features
The RC 160 can be had in either a Ceramic White Matte shade, an Electronic Orange Matte hue, or a Black colour. It comes with a 5-inch LCD console, full LED headlamp, a 13.7-litre fuel tank, 168mm ground clearance, and an 830mm seat height. Tipping the scales at 155kg, the RC 160 is no featherweight. But the bike's mass is well-distributed for nimble handling.
KTM RC 160 Hardware
The RC 160 uses a trellis frame, suspended by 37mm USD forks at the front with 130mm of travel, and a preload-adjustable monoshock at the back with 165mm of travel. Stopping power comes from a 320mm front disc with a radially mounted calliper and a 230mm floating rear disc calliper, backed by Supermoto ABS. The bike rolls on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with 110/70 front and 140/60 rear tubeless tyres.
