Matter, an Ahmedabad-based electric vehicle startup, has announced that its Aera electric motorbike is now available for purchase on Amazon India. As part of the Amazon Great Indian Festival, the Aera is being
offered at an effective price of Rs 1,78,826 (ex-showroom). The Aera 5000+ has an ex-showroom price of Rs 2.05 lakh, when purchased through a dealership.
The Matter Aera stands out as the country’s first electric motorcycle to feature a manual gearbox. The proprietary 4-speed HyperShift transmission offers three ride modes: Eco, City, and Sport, allowing riders to choose from 12 unique combinations based on performance and efficiency preferences.

Powering the Aera is a 5 kWh liquid-cooled battery pack, paired with a liquid-cooled electric motor. The motorcycle delivers a certified range of up to 172 km (IDC) on a single charge and can accelerate from 0 to 40 km/h in 2.8 seconds. Matter claims running costs as low as 25 paise per kilometre, potentially saving owners over Rs 1 lakh within three years of use compared to petrol motorcycles.
The Aera comes equipped with a 7-inch smart touchscreen dashboard that integrates navigation, music, calls, and ride analytics, along with support for over-the-air (OTA) software updates. A companion Matter mobile app further enhances usability, providing real-time vehicle data, remote locking, and service alerts.

Charging is made convenient with an onboard charger compatible with standard 5A household sockets, allowing users to plug in anywhere without specialised equipment. The battery system is IP67-rated for dust and water resistance. In terms of safety and comfort, the Aera gets dual disc brakes with ABS, a telescopic front fork, and dual rear suspension.
