BMW’s largest SUV, the X7, is getting a major transformation, which is not just a facelift. The next-generation X7 is set to bring futuristic design, next-level technology and for the first time ever, a fully electric version called the iX7. This huge BMW SUV is expected to arrive between late 2026 and early 2027, marking a big step forward for BMW’s flagship SUV lineup.
Looks
This big beast is inspired by the sleek Neue Klasse design which is seen on BMW’s new iX3 and with this the upcoming X7 will look cleaner, sharper and more modern than ever. While it keeps the split-headlight design, BMW has added a more sophisticated touch with LED lighting elements replacing chrome around the twin kidney grille. Even the door handles have gone futuristic and are
replaced by subtle winglets that sit flush with the doors for better aerodynamics.
Looking at the rear, the X7 will feature slimmer LED taillights and a signature split tailgate, while the sportier M variants will show off bold quad exhausts. The electric iX7, meanwhile, will skip the tailpipes altogether for a smooth, EV-only design, according to Carscoops.

Technology
From the inside, the new X7 will debut BMW’s Panoramic Vision which is a massive digital screen that stretches across the windshield from pillar to pillar. This setup lets the driver and front passenger customize their view accordingly, with everything from navigation to entertainment efficiently.
A 3D head-up display, advanced driver-assist systems, and even hands-free highway driving are all part of this package. However, fans of old-school controls might miss the traditional iDrive rotary dial, which BMW seems to be phasing out in favor of full touch control to make this bold SUV more advanced.
Under the Hood
The X7 will still offer its powerful petrol and diesel engines, but the real highlight is the electric iX7. By using BMW’s updated platform, it is expected to deliver around 463 horsepower from a dual-motor setup which is enough to move this big SUV with high speed.
For performance lovers, an M70 version could push power close to 800 hp, and for which the credit goes to an 800-volt system and 110 kWh battery. BMW is also keeping its popular 3.0-litre inline-six and 4.4-litre V8 engines, along with diesel options for selected markets.
Why It Matters
For BMW fans or anyone who is just getting into cars the new X7 represents the future of luxury driving with a twist of electrification. It blends old-school power with futuristic technology and electric innovation, showing how big SUVs can evolve without losing their grandeur.
