Land Rover has previewed the Range Rover Sport Electric at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, confirming a global on-sale date of September 2026 and an India launch expected by March 2027. It's powered by a 118.5kWh battery with a claimed real-world range of around 530km and will become JLR's second EV after the flagship Range Rover Electric. This matters for Indian luxury SUV buyers because it's expected to cost more than the locally assembled combustion versions once it arrives, giving early shoppers a reason to start planning around a premium rather than assuming price parity. How Far Can It Go?
Built on JLR's MLA platform, designed from the outset with electrification in mind,
the Sport Electric uses two motors, one per axle, for all-wheel drive and a combined 550hp output. It's a heavy vehicle at roughly 2,700kg which is typical for a battery-powered SUV of this size. Regenerative braking is standard, with two selectable modes, a lighter or standard 'D' setting and a one-pedal 'S' mode, though there are no paddle shifters for manual adjustment.
