Nissan has just revealed the 2026 Altima, bringing updated styling, smarter technology, and premium features that make it feel modern and exciting. But the big question for Indians is- will this new Altima ever
come to India?
Nissan has officially launched the 2026 Altima in international markets, and the car is already on sale with prices starting at $27,580. But the brand has not yet revealed its plan of bringing this sedan to India.
The lineup has been simplified into two main variants- SV and SR, both of which can be chosen with either front-wheel drive or Nissan’s Intelligent All-Wheel Drive, which is a system that improves grip and confidence on slippery or uneven roads.
One of the most important updates for 2026 Altima is the introduction of the Midnight Edition package for the SR version. This is a darker, sportier-looking version of the sedan. It features a black V-motion grille, black alloy wheels, dark window trims, black badges and a stylish two-tone black roof. The Midnight Edition also adds comfort features like dual-zone automatic climate control and a moonroof, which makes the car feel more premium. Customers can choose from colours such as Super Black, Pearl White TriCoat, Tactical Green Metallic and Gray Sky Pearl.
Technology is where the 2026 Altima truly shines, as the SR variant now comes standard with a large 12.3-inch touchscreen, which is much bigger and clearer than before. It supports wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto, allowing drivers to connect their smartphones without cables and a wireless charging pad is also standard.
The SV variant is the entry point but, it is far from basic sedan, as it comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, an 8-inch touchscreen, smartphone connectivity and Nissan Safety Shield 360. Convenience features like Remote Engine Start are also included. Buyers can anyways upgrade with the SV Special Edition or SV Premium packages, adding features such as a bigger touchscreen, moonroof, heated seats, ProPILOT Assist and larger wheels.
The Altima SR adds 19-inch wheels, paddle shifters, a sport-tuned suspension and smart systems like Active Ride Control and Intelligent Trace Control. From the inside, it gets sport seats with contrast stitching, gloss-black trims and sporty exhaust tips. The SR Premium package further enhances comfort with a Bose nine-speaker audio system, heated steering wheel, moonroof and an Intelligent Around View Monitor.
However, Nissan has not confirmed plans to bring the Altima to India. The Indian market has shifted heavily toward SUVs and midsize sedans have become a niche segment. However, if Nissan decides to strengthen its premium sedan presence in the future, the Altima’s design, technology and comfort could make it an attractive option.
