Tata Motors Achieves 2.50 Lakh EV Milestone - 5 New EVs Planned By 2030

Tata Motors' electric vehicle division, Tata.ev, has recorded over 2,50,000 electric car sales, achieving an important milestone for the manufacturer on December 23. With the early success of models such

as the Nexon.ev, Tata.ev has commanded the majority of the passenger electric vehicle market over the last decade. Along with the latest milestone, the EV maker has also confirmed five new all-electric models that are planned between 2026 and 2030. Here are all the details.

Out of the 2.50 lakh EVs that Tata.ev has rolled out, the majority share is held by the Nexon.ev, which has crossed the 1 lakh cumulative sales mark since it first launched in January 2020. This also makes the Nexon.ev the first EV in the country to cross the 1 lakh mark. Amidst the growing competition, Tata.ev still commands two-thirds or 66 percent of the overall EV market share. Cumulatively, Tata EVs have covered over 12 billion kilometres and helped save an estimated 1.7 million tonnes of CO2 emissions and 800 million litres of fuel.

In their latest announcement, Tata.ev has confirmed that it has planned three new EV launches in the Calendar Year (CY) 2026. These will include the Sierra.ev, the Punch.ev and the Avinya luxury electric in a chronological order. Mixing in a couple of more mid-life facelifts, Tata.ev plans to introduce 5 new electric cars in the country by 2030. The Avinya line of high-end EVs will be intorduced by the end of 2026 and the new Punch.ev will be the first among Tata's mid-life refreshes, we expect the Nexon.ev and Curvv.ev to see mid-term facelifts some time in 2027 as well.

In terms of charging infrastructure, Tata.ev claims to have customers in over 1,000 cities who have access to over 2 lakh EV charging points in its network by leveraging partner CPOs. The EV maker also claims to have the largest network of fast chargers that include 100 MegaCharging Hubs across India with up to 16 charging points that offer over 120kW+ charging speeds.
