Koenigsegg, Lego Build 111kmph 'Sadair's Spear'— The Fastest Lego Car Ever

Koenigsegg and Lego have built a full-size, drivable replica of the Sadair's Spear hypercar entirely out of Lego Technic pieces, and it just touched 111kmph at Goodwood, more than double the previous record for a large-scale Lego car. There's no real Indian launch angle here, this is a one-off promotional build, but it's worth knowing about if you follow Koenigsegg or Lego Technic's adult car sets, since the engineering ideas behind builds like this usually trickle down into the retail sets that do reach India eventually. How Did A Lego Car Actually Hit 111kmph?

Behind the wheel was Markus Lundh, Koenigsegg's own test driver and incidentally the same guy who set the hillclimb

record in the real Sadair's Spear an year earlier. He drove the Lego version at Goodwood on a reverse-course layout this time. As for the car itself, it's built from 3,27,906 individual Lego pieces and weighs close to 3,968 pounds altogether with roughly 882 pounds of that being Lego bricks alone. Just putting it together took more than 9,400 hours, and that wasn't simple stacking, it involved working mechanical parts, not a static shell.

For comparison, the previous record for a large-scale Lego Technic vehicle sat at just 49.8kmph, set by a Lego McLaren P1, so this build more than doubles that number. Worth knowing too, the real Sadair's Spear is limited to 30 examples and puts out 1,603 hp, and it set its own hillclimb record at this same Goodwood course a year before the Lego version repeated the run.

Is There A Lego Set You Can Actually Buy?

Yes, and honestly, this is really the commercial reason the whole project exists. Lego's launching a new Technic set based on the Sadair's Spear right alongside the Goodwood run, the sixth entry in its 1:8-scale Ultimate Car Concept line, following similar sets built around Porsche, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Ferrari, and McLaren cars. It comes with 4,104 pieces, a working nine-speed sequential gearbox operated through paddle shifters, a piston-style V8, and the same "Ghost Mode" trick from the full-size build, lift the rear hood and the doors pop open while the mirrors fold in. It goes up for early access on July 1, 2026, with general sale starting July 4, priced at 449.99 Euros internationally, though there's no confirmed India price or availability yet.
