Tata Motors has given a turbocharged boost to its existing lineup of Harrier and Safari SUVs with the new Hyperion petrol engine option. The new petrol engine option gives the Harrier and Safari an edge over the competition in terms of powertrains and also makes them more appealing for buyers looking for a petrol-powered SUV. Here are all the details and specifications that have been revealed about the two new petrol versions.

Both the Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs now get the 1.5-litre Hyperion turbo-petrol engine, which recently debuted in the Sierra SUV. The motor produces an identical 168 hp and 280 Nm of torque output in both SUVs and also
comes with Tata Motors' AI and machine learning based Smart Shift Assist and Launch Assist systems.
Buyers will be able to get the petrol engine in all 11 variants of the Harrier and Safari, including the #DARK editions. However, the STEALTH Edition SUVs will not be offering the turbo-petrol yet. Tata Motors has also added four new top-end variants to the Safari lineup and two new top-end variants to the Harrier lineup with the option of the petrol engine.
Another key addition to the Harrier and Safari SUV duo, is the 'Theatre Maax' cabin experience suite. This includes the 14.5-inch Samsung QLED infotainment touchscreen, Dolby Atmos sound signature, a 10-speaker JBL audio system and the Arcade App Suite.
While the prices for the Harrier and Safari petrol have not been announced yet, the Harrier petrol has been launched first and can be expected to be priced Rs 50,000 to Rs 80,000 cheaper than the diesel. This would bring its starting price to approximately Rs 13 lakh and pre-bookings for the Harrier petrol are currently live online. The Safari petrol prices will come out on a later date, however, the price difference can be expected to be around the same range as the Harrier. With this latest move, Tata Motors has moved into the D-segment petrol powered SUV segment with both a 5-seater and 7-seater option.
