Kawasaki has announced a price cut for its 2026 KLX 230 and KLX 230R S models in India. The reduction follows the implementation of the new GST 2.0 regime, which lowers the tax rate on sub-350cc motorcycles
from 28% to 18%. This move has resulted in a drop of up to Rs 16,000 on these off-road motorcycles.
Under the revised pricing, the 2026 Kawasaki KLX 230 now retails at Rs 1.84 lakh (ex-showroom), while the KLX 230R S is priced at Rs 1.79 lakh (ex-showroom). The previous model year KLX 230 was listed at Rs 2.99 lakh on Kawasaki’s official website. The revised rates apply only to the 2026 model year motorcycles.

Both models share the same 233cc single-cylinder, air-cooled engine producing 19 hp and 20 Nm of peak torque, paired with a six-speed gearbox. These motorcycles are designed for off-road use, featuring a perimeter high-tensile steel frame, long-travel suspension, and lightweight construction.
The KLX 230 and KLX 230R S both get 220 mm of front and 223 mm of rear wheel travel, 270 mm of ground clearance, and a 7.5-litre fuel tank. They run on a 21-inch front tyre (2.75-21 45P) and an 18-inch rear tyre (4.10-18 59P). The wheelbase stands at 1,370 mm, with a steering angle of 45° on both sides. Seat height is 900 mm. Curb mass is listed at 129 kg, with a lighter 123 kg version also specified.

Braking hardware on both motorcycles includes a single 290 mm disc at the front and a 230 mm disc at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by a 37 mm telescopic fork up front and Kawasaki’s Uni-Trak system with spring preload adjustability at the rear. With these price cuts, the Kawasaki KLX 230 series is a more accessible option for those seeking entry-level off-road motorcycles. The lower price point under GST 2.0 makes both models more competitive in a niche segment.
