The new Audi Nuvolari has brought the Formula-inspired technology to the road. The mid-engine plug-in-hybrid supercar is a spiritual successor to the R8, and is named after the legendary 1930s Auto Union racing driver Tazio Nuvolari. The car has a total output of 987hp, a top speed of over 350km/h, and advanced aerodynamics, all of which help it become one of the most technologically advanced cars ever developed by Audi. While Audi has not confirmed its launch in India, the hybrid supercar showcases the future direction of the company's performance and engineering capabilities. It is also a limited-run model, with production capped at 499 units globally. Read on to know more about it.
Audi Nuvolari Gets F1-Inspired Hybrid Powertrain
The Audi Nuvolari gets a hybrid powertrain that consists of
a 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8 engine (800hp) and three axial flux electric motors (producing 146hp each). The setup churns out a total of up to 987hp. Audi claims the Nuvolari can sprint from 0-100 km/h in 2.6 seconds and reach 200km/h in 6.8 seconds. The supercar has a top speed of more than 350km/h. A compact 7.3 kWh battery supports the hybrid setup and allows for limited pure electric driving.
Audi Nuvolari Packs Advanced Aerodynamics And Predictive Quattro System
The R8 successor borrows significantly from Formula 1, and comes equipped with active aerodynamics that continuously adjust downforce and drag based on driving conditions. There's also a deployable rear wing that can switch between multiple settings, and a Drag Reduction System (DRS), which helps improve straight-line performance.
The Audi Nuvolari debuts Audi's new quattro predictive ride technology. What's special about this system is that it uses data from multiple sensors and can proactively manage torque distribution, braking, and aerodynamics to maximise grip and stability. This particularly assists in challenging conditions.
Audi Nuvolari Gets New Design Philosophy And Carbon Construction
The Nuvolari is the first production model to follow the German marque's new design language. It has a low-slung, mid-engine layout, sharp proportions, and a robust aerodynamic efficiency. The four-ring brand has extensively used carbon-fibre reinforced polymer for the exterior panels. This has resulted in reducing the weight of the supercar while increasing its structural rigidity. The forged centre-lock wheels have also made their debut on a production Audi. The car comes adorned in a new Titanium paint job and has a race-inspired look.

Will Audi Bring The Nuvolari To India?
Audi has not confirmed its launch plans for the exclusive Nuvolari in India. Given its ultra-rare market positioning and F1-inspired technology, the Nuvolari is expected to be significantly more expensive for the Indian market. However, its advanced design, engineering and innovative features can influence future performance Audis, including those headed to India.
