Mercedes-Benz India has recorded its highest-ever September sales, registering a 36% growth compared to the same month last year. The brand attributed this strong performance to the government’s GST 2.0 reforms, which revived customer sentiment and unlocked deferred purchases that had been on hold since mid-August. The festive season further amplified the momentum, with the company retailing around 2,500 units during the nine days of Navratri; its best-ever Navratri performance in India.
The robust September figures also contributed to Mercedes-Benz India’s record Q2 FY25-26 sales, with 5,119 units retailed between July and September. The growth was evenly distributed across both the ‘Core Luxury’ and ‘Top-End Luxury’ segments, while the company’s
battery-electric vehicle (BEV) range continued to gain traction, maintaining an 8% share of total sales.

In the top-end luxury category, which includes models like the GLS, S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, AMG G63, and EQS SUV, demand remained strong with a 25% penetration and 12% year-on-year growth. The AMG G63 recorded its highest-ever monthly sales despite a waiting period exceeding six months. The brand’s bespoke ‘manufaktur’ program, allowing extensive customisation and personalisation, accounted for nearly 75% of top-end vehicle deliveries in India.
The ‘Core Luxury’ portfolio also delivered record results, posting a 10% growth in Q2 FY25-26. Models such as the long-wheelbase E-Class, GLC, and GLE SUVs achieved their best-ever monthly sales in September. The E-Class LWB continued its dominance as India’s highest-selling luxury sedan, posting a notable 47% year-on-year increase during the quarter. This segment contributed 60% to Mercedes-Benz India’s overall sales volume, underscoring its critical role in the brand’s performance.

On the other hand, the ‘Entry Luxury’ lineup, comprising the A-Class sedan and GLA SUV, faced headwinds amid an increasingly competitive market dominated by lower-priced offerings. Electric mobility remained a key focus area for the brand. The BEV portfolio grew by 10% in Q2, driven by the strong response to the EQS SUV. The all-electric G 580 Edition 1 with EQ Technology has already been sold out for the year, with bookings now open for the next batch of deliveries.
