Tata Sierra Smart Plus Variant Design -
The Sierra base model will retain all the fundamentals of the SUV but will lose out on the shiny bits. Starting with the 17-inch steel rims that the Smart Plus variant will get, instead of the 18-inch
or 19-inch alloy wheels from the higher trim levels. While we expect Tata Motors to offer the LED headlamp, DRL and Taillamp setup identical to higher models. The flush door handles will also continue to be part of the base model. We expect the base model not to feature the powered ORVMs and shark fin antenna as well.
Base Model Tata Sierra Features -
While the Sierra Smart Plus will not be as flashy as the top-end Accomplished trim level, it will cover the basics well. Safety being a priority, the Sierra base model will offer 22 standard safety features, including 6 airbags, ABS, EBD and more. While it has not been confirmed by the brand, it would be safe to assume that the Sierra Smart Plus will feature power windows, reverse parking sensors, remote central lock, a 4-inch digital driver information display, manual AC controls and the 2-spoke backlit steering wheel. Entertainment equipment can be expected to be limited in the base variant.
Engine Options In Sierra Base Model:
It has been confirmed that the base Tata Sierra Smart Plus variant will be offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. These will include the 1.5-litre, non-turbocharged petrol that produces 104 hp and 145 Nm of torque. On the other hand, the 1.5-litre CRDi diesel engine will produce 114 hp and 260 Nm of torque. Both engine options will only be available with the 6-speed manual transmission in the base variant.
Tata Sierra Smart Plus Colour Options -
While the Sierra SUV has been introduced with six different colour options, the base Smart Plus variant is only available in three colours. These include the Pristine White, Coorg Clouds and the Pure Grey shades.
Considering that basic strengths of the Sierra, like a spacious cabin, upright stance, safety features and 622 litres of boot space, remain unchanged. At the price tag of Rs 11.49 lakh ex-showroom, the Sierra Smart Plus variant will offer a high-value proposition to those who are looking for a mid-sized SUV at the price of a compact SUV.
