The upcoming Skoda Kodiaq RS has garnered overwhelming market response even before its official price announcement. All 50 allocated units of the performance SUV sold out within just six minutes of bookings opening on June 23 for a token amount of Rs 3 lakh. The instant sellout shows the growing demand for performance-oriented Skoda models in India, as this isn't the first time an RS-badged model has witnessed such an enthusiastic response. Last year, the limited-run Octavia RS also sold out shortly after bookings commenced, with all 100 Completely Built Units (CBU) examples being reserved in just 20 minutes. Here's a comprehensive guide on the powertrain and features of the upcoming Kodiaq RS SUV in India.
Skoda Kodiaq RS: Engine
The Kodiaq RS has a 2.0-litre four-cylinder
turbo-petrol engine that develops 265hp and 400Nm. Compared to the standard Kodiaq, this is an increase of 61hp of power and 80Nm of torque, making the former considerably more powerful. The engine is paired with a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission (DCT), while Skoda's all-wheel-drive system comes as standard. The SUV is also equipped with Dynamic Chassis Control Plus (DCC Plus), as well as an adaptive suspension setup. The Kodiaq RS claims a 0 to 100km/h sprint time of 6.3 seconds.
Skoda Kodiaq RS: Features
Skoda has equipped the SUV with a 12.9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and a 10.25-inch fully digital driver's display. The extensive feature list also comprises a panoramic sunroof, a 13-speaker Canton premium audio system with a subwoofer, powered rear window sunshades, and three-zone automatic climate control.
Skoda Kodiaq RS Price And Launch
Skoda is yet to announce the official price of the Kodiaq RS in India. However, considering the standard Kodiaq is priced between Rs 36.99 lakh and Rs 46.99 lakh (ex-showroom), the high-performance RS version is expected to command a price tag above Rs 50 lakh (ex-showroom). With the complete first batch for India already spoken for ahead of launch, the Kodiaq RS has demonstrated the massive appeal of Skoda's RS model range among Indian car buyers.
