Hyundai Enters Taxi Market With Prime Hatchback And Prime Sedan - Details

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has taken an important new step in its India journey by officially entering the commercial mobility segment. Hyundai, which is known for its strong presence in the private car market, has now introduced a dedicated taxi-focused lineup called the Prime Taxi Range, aimed at fleet operators and individual taxi entrepreneurs. The new range includes two models - Prime HB (hatchback) and Prime SD (sedan).

Bookings for the Hyundai Prime Taxi range are now open across all Hyundai dealerships in India, with a booking amount of Rs 5,000. Prices start at Rs 5.99 lakh for the Prime HB and Rs 6.89 lakh for the Prime SD (ex-showroom), which makes them competitive options in the commercial vehicle space.

Both the models are Hyundai’s proven 1.2-litre Kappa 4-cylinder engine, available with Petrol + CNG options. For taxi operators, this means fewer breakdowns, predictable servicing, and better peace of mind. Hyundai has also factory-fitted a Speed Limiting Function (SLF) set at 80 km/h, which is a key requirement for many commercial vehicle regulations.

Fuel efficiency is another big highlight as per ARAI certification, the Prime SD delivers 28.40 km/kg, while the Prime HB offers 27.32 km/kg on CNG. Hyundai has not compromised on safety and comfort, even though these vehicles are meant for commercial use, both Prime HB and Prime SD come with six airbags, rear parking sensors, three-point seatbelts, emergency stop signal, and central locking.

Comfort features include rear AC vents, front and rear power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, steering-mounted audio controls, speakers, and Type-C USB fast charging. The driver also benefits from seat height adjustment, ensuring a more relaxed driving position during long hours on the road.

To further support taxi owners, Hyundai is offering a special extended warranty for the 4th and 5th year or up to 1,80,000 km, which is especially useful for high-usage vehicles. The brand claims a low maintenance cost of around 47 paise per kilometre, helping operators better manage expenses. Flexible finance options with repayment periods of up to 72 months make ownership easier, especially for first-time buyers.

Hyundai’s wide service network across India, along with trained Fleet Care Advisors at dealerships, ensures faster service and maximum vehicle uptime. The Prime HB and Prime SD are available in Atlas White, Typhoon Silver and Abyss Black.
