The Bajaj Pulsar N160 has received another update, but this one is less about power and more about what buyers see and feel every day. Priced at Rs 1.22 lakh (ex-showroom), the new variant brings golden USD forks, a slipper clutch and a few cosmetic changes to a motorcycle that is already one of Bajaj’s key products in the 160cc segment. The engine remains exactly the same, so existing owners are not missing out on extra performance. Instead, Bajaj seems to be responding to a simple trend: buyers today want their motorcycles to look and feel more premium, even if they are shopping in the commuter space.
Those Golden Forks Are The Biggest Talking Point
If you park the new Bajaj N160 next to the older version, the difference is immediately obvious. The golden upside-down front forks stand out
from a distance and give the motorcycle a more expensive appearance. A few years ago, this was the sort of hardware you would normally find on motorcycles costing significantly more.
For many buyers, the appeal is not necessarily about suspension performance. It is about getting a motorcycle that looks a little more special when parked outside the office, college or home. Bajaj has also introduced new colour options with this variant, helping it stand apart from the rest of the N160 lineup.
The Slipper Clutch Is A Useful Addition
The feature that deserves more attention is probably the slipper clutch. Most riders may never specifically ask for one while buying a motorcycle, but they usually appreciate it once they start using it. During quick downshifts, it helps keep the rear wheel more settled and reduces the abrupt feeling that sometimes comes from engine braking.
The N160 also continues with features buyers have already come to expect, including dual-channel ABS, a digital instrument cluster and Bluetooth connectivity functions such as call alerts and navigation support. This is becoming a pattern across the segment. Manufacturers are no longer competing only on engine size and power figures. Feature lists are becoming just as important.

Same Engine, Different Experience
Mechanically, there is nothing new. The motorcycle continues with the same 164.82cc oil-cooled single-cylinder engine producing 15.7 bhp and 14.65 Nm. The five-speed gearbox also remains unchanged. That means performance stays familiar. The update is really about making the motorcycle feel a bit more upmarket without pushing buyers into a bigger and more expensive segment.
And that is probably the logic behind this launch. Most people shopping for a 160cc motorcycle today are not asking for another 2PS of power. They are looking for a bike that feels modern, well-equipped and worth spending a little extra on.
