Ever since its return in January 2020, the Bajaj Chetak electric scooter has managed to achieve significant sales, crossing the mark of over 5 lakh units all over India. In the last 10 months, more than 2.06 lakh units have been sold; this speaks for itself in terms of increasing demand for electric scooters. This growth continues even after earlier production issues due to a shortage of rare-earth magnets. Presently, prices for Chetak models start at around Rs 1.07 lakh for the base model 3001 variant and go up to Rs 1.40 lakh for the top-of-the-line variants. Both mentioned prices are ex-showroom figures.

Bajaj Chetak EV: Sales Trends And Timeframes
It took
about 46 months from the time of its launch, that is close to four years, for the Chetak electric scooter to register its first milestone of 1 lakh units sold. Since April 2024, sales have picked up considerably with more than 3.48 lakh units being delivered within a short span of just 20 months. Interestingly, over 2 lakh of those units were shipped in less than ten months.
Bajaj Chetak EV: Variants, Battery Specs & Pricing
The Chetak EV can be had in four variants-3001, 3501, 3502, and 3503. The lower trim is powered by a 3 kWh battery, aimed at more budget-conscious electric vehicle (EV) buyers. The higher trims-three of them-have bigger batteries of 3.5 kWh capacities, offering longer ranges as well as more features in addition to the base variant. As mentioned before, the ex-showroom prices start from Rs 1.07 lakh for the variant going up to about Rs 1.40 lakh for the most expensive one.

Bajaj Chetak EV: Market Position & Operational Hurdles
Chetak’s sales growth was interrupted by supply chain issues, notably a global shortage of rare‐earth magnets. Deliveries resumed across dealerships once those constraints eased. The brand also leverages an extensive service network of over 3,800 touchpoints in India, which supports customer service and helps maintain market momentum.
